Competition for Domestic Abuse Survivors Launches

‘Catharsis: Competition for Domestic Abuse Survivors’ is a new creative competition inviting survivors of domestic abuse to share their journeys through poetry, visual art or mixed media. This initiative offers a safe and empowering space to transform pain into power and experience healing through creativity.

Too often, the voices of survivors are silenced by fear, stigma or trauma. ‘Catharsis’ exists to change that. Through art, survivors are invited to reclaim their narratives on their own terms – whether that means speaking boldly, quietly, symbolically, or anonymously. Every story is valid. Every expression matters.

The competition is open for entries until 31 January 2026.

Linda Huskisson, Founder of Living Keys, says: “Creativity can be a powerful tool for healing. ‘Catharsis’ recognises that poetry, art, and mixed media can say what words alone sometimes cannot. By participating, survivors can reflect, release and reconnect with their inner strength, while contributing to a wider conversation that challenges stigma and raises awareness around domestic abuse.”
